Cryptid Corner Mapinguari Edition

Hello and welcome back to another cryptid corner. Today we are diving into Brazilian folklore and looking at the Mapinguari.
The Mapinguari inhabit the forests of Para, Amazonas and Acre in Brazil.
They differ slightly in description depending on region; generally they are human sized or slightly bigger, hairy like a spider monkey with backwards hooved feet, sharp claws, a mouth split from chin to stomach with large teeth and one large eye similar to a cyclops. Accounts also describe different colour's of hair red/brown/black. Their hair is reported to be so dense it makes the Mapinguari bulletproof. Some regional variations in description are crocodile like hard skin or a turtle like shell.
The Mapinguari is considered a man eater. They are mostly described as only slowly devouring it's preys head; however there are accounts that say they devour the whole body piece by piece.
I would recommend that if you don't want to be a chew toy for an angry Muppet, be cautious in the forests of Brazil.
