Special Instructions: I suggest using the invisible dec wherever it says in the pattern to do a dec, it helps with the overall look of the item

puff: puff stitch: yo, insert hook into the st, yo and pull up a loop x4,

until there are 9 loops on the hook, yo and pull through all loops, sl to close

puff dec: yo, insert hook into st, yo and pull up a loop x3, until there are 7 loops on the hook, go to the next puff st, yo, insert hook into the st x2, until there are 11 loops on the hook, yo and pull through all loops, sl to close

if you want a slouchier longer hat, you can repeat round 3 as many times as you like until it is the size you want before moving on to round 17

standard hat brim measurements are 18-20” on the brim measured unstretched, I stick right in the middle, it will give you a couple of inches when stretched out, measure it unstretched to between the 18-20” as desired!

When making these, I use the same amount of stitches, no matter the size of the brim you're making, whether smaller or larger, it changes slightly the placement along the brim, being either a little closer together or further apart, but in my experience the hat body itself shape will not change based on the brim. If you would however like to change the amount of stitches, this hat is done in repeats of 5

hdc in the 3rd loop: when you look at the back of a hdc st, you will see an extra loop in behind the two loops on top, that is where you will place your stitch
