Materials:
#4 medium weight yarn, approx 20 yards
E 3.5mm hook
Needle for sewing in ends and attaching pieces
Stitch Guide:
sl: slip stitch
ch: chain
sk: skip
st: stitch
bb: back bump
yo: yarn over
mc: main colour
ac: accent colour
blo: back loop only
flo: front loop only
sc: single crochet
sc incr: single crochet increase
sc dec: single crochet decrease
Special Instructions: I suggest using the invisible dec wherever a dec is called for
Gauge is not important with this item, changing the hook or yarn size will simply change the size of the finished piece, just make sure you use the appropriate size hook for your yarn

Ears: (make two)
In black
Start with a magic circle, or ch 3 with a sl to join, however you feel comfortable starting on the round
Round 1: 6 sc in the circle (6)
Round 2: 1 sc, repeat around (6)
Change to orange
Round 3: 1 sc, 1 sc incr, repeat around (9)
Round 4: 2 sc, 1 sc incr, repeat around (12)
Round 5: 3 sc, 1 sc incr, repeat around (15)
Round 6: 4 sc, 1 sc incr, repeat around (18)
Round 7: 5 sc, 1 sc incr, repeat around (21)
Round 8 – 10: 1 sc, repeat around (21)
Round 11: 1 sc dec, fold so both sides are touching and sc x10 to close (11)
Finish off with a long tail to sew to the hat
Inner Ear: (make two)
Ch 2
Row 1: 1 sc incr in the 2nd ch from the hook, turn (2)
Row 2: ch 1, 2 sc incr, turn (4)
Row 3: ch 1, 4 sc, turn (4)
Row 4: ch 1, sc up one side x3, 3 sc in the top point, 3 sc down the other side, 1 sl (10)
Finish off with a long tail to attach to the ear
Assembly:
Inner Ear: position on the ear as pictured below and attach
Ears: position on either side and attach
