Meet the Maker: Hi! I'm Lizzie Livett-Buchanan, the strange and unusual mind behind the strange and unusual designs from MTP Designs. I love to create the weird, the unusual, and sometimes even the macabre! I hope you enjoy making this as much as I enjoyed writing it! I love to see what people come up with working with my patterns, so please join us in my group on facebook!! https://www.facebook.com/groups/mtpdesigns

Ears: (make two)

*** Make 2 individual pieces to be joined together to make one, 1 in ac, and 1 in mc, make the ac first, then follow the instructions for joining the two pieces together ***

Ch 3

Row 1: 1 hdc incr in the 3rd ch from the hook, turn (2)

Row 2: ch 1, 2 hdc incr, turn (4)

Row 3: ch 1, 1 hdc, 1 hdc incr, 2 hdc, turn (5)

Row 4: ch 1, 1 hdc, 1 hdc incr, 3 hdc, turn (6)

Row 5: ch 1, 6 hdc, turn (6)

Row 6: ch 1, 1 hdc, 1 hdc incr, 4 hdc, turn (7)

Row 7: ch 1, 1 hdc, 1 hdc incr, 5 hdc, turn (8)

Row 8 – 12: ch 1, 8 hdc, turn (8)

Row 13: ch 1, 1 hdc dec, 4 hdc, 1 hdc dec, turn (6)

Row 14: ch 1, 2 hdc, 1 hdc dec, 2 hdc (5)

Finish off the first piece, but not the second, instead continue on to the next set of instructions to join:

Holding your two pieces together as pictured below, work through them both to join:

Round 15: hdc around the entire piece to join, the amount of stitches you end up with will depend on where you place the stitches along the sides, but it should be approx:

14 hdc per side, 3 hdc in the bottom point, and 5 sc across the top = 36

Fold the top so the two sides are touching, as pictured below, and sc x3 through both sides to close:

Finish off with a long tail to sew to the hat

Antlers: (make two)

Start with a magic circle, or ch 3 with a sl to join, however you feel comfortable starting on the round

Round 1: 6 sc in the circle (6)

Round 2: 1 sc, repeat around (6)

Round 3: 2 sc, 1 sc incr, repeat around (8)

Round 4: 1 sc, repeat around (8)

Round 5: 3 sc, 1 sc incr, repeat around, finish with a sl (10)

Finish off with a long tail to sew to the hat

Assembly:

Antlers: stuff and position on the hat close to the edge evenly on either side, and attach

Ears: position behind the antlers evenly on either side and attach, holding them together as pictured below, cut a small piece of yarn and place a couple of stitches to hold them together, this will make them stand up straight instead of flopping to the side as pictured:
