Parker The Pig Zombie Modification

This is a modification for my Parker the Pig pattern available in my Etsy and Ravelry shops.

#4 medium weight yarn, approx 120 yards
Polyfibre fill
E 3.5mm hook
Needle for sewing in ends and attaching pieces
25-30mm eye

sl: slip stitch
ch: chain
sk: skip
st: stitch
bb: back bump
yo: yarn over
mc: main colour
ac: accent colour
blo: back loop only
flo: front loop only
sc: single crochet
sc incr: single crochet increase
sc dec: single crochet decrease
hdc: half double crochet
hdc incr: half double crochet increase
dc: double crochet
dc incr: double crochet increase
bobble: bobble stitch
picot: picot stitch

Special Instructions: I suggest using the invisible dec wherever a dec is called for
Gauge is not important with this item, changing the hook or yarn size will simply change the size of the finished piece, just make sure you use the appropriate size hook for your yarn
bobble stitch: (yo, insert hook, draw up a loop, yo, draw through 2 loops leaving 2 on the hook) x5 until you have 6 loops on your hook, yo, draw through all loops, ch 1 to close the stitch
picot stitch: ch 3, 1 sc in the 3rd ch from the hook

To make Parkwas the Zombie Pig you will need to own the original Parker the Pig design to complete: Body, Back Legs x2, Front Leg x1, Snout, Nostrils x2, Ear x1

Zombie Front Leg:
In ac
Start with a magic circle, or ch 3 with a sl to join, however you feel comfortable starting on the round
Round 1: 6 sc in the circle (6)
Round 2: 1 sc incr, repeat around (12)
Round 3: 1 sc, 1 sc incr, repeat around (18)
Round 4: 2 sc, 1 sc incr, repeat around (24)
Round 5: blo: 1 sc, repeat around (24)
Round 6: 4 sc, 1 sc dec, repeat around (20)
Change to mc
Round 7: 1 sc, repeat around (20)
Change to red
Round 8: 1 sc dec, repeat around (10)
Round 9: 3 sc, 1 sc dec, repeat around (8)
Change to bone
Round 10 – 14: 1 sc, repeat around (8)
Change to red
Round 15: 1 sc incr, repeat around (16)
Round 16: 1 sc, repeat around (16)
Change to mc
Round 17 – 20: 1 sc, repeat around (16)
Round 21: fold so both sides are touching and sc x8 through both to close (8)
Finish off with a long tail to sew to the body

Zombie Ear:
Start with a long tail to sew to the head
In mc
Ch 13
Row 1: 1 sc in the 2nd bb from the hook and the next 11, turn (12)
Round 2: ch 1, flo: 12 sc, ch 1, turn and work into the back loops left from the first 12 sc, 12 sc, join with a sl (24)


Round 3: ch 1, 2 sc, 1 hdc incr, 2 dc, 3 sc, 1 dc incr, 2 sc, 1 hdc, 1 sc, 1 dc incr, 1 dc, 2 sc, 3 dc, 1 sc,
1 hdc, 1 dc incr, 1 dc, join with a sl (28)
Change to red
Round 4:Â ch 1, 3 sc, 1 picot, 4 sc, 1 picot, 3 hdc, 4 sc, 1 picot, 3 sc, 2 hdc, 1 picot, 5 sc, join with
a sl (28)
Finish off and weave in ends


Hanging Zombie Eye:
Base:
In black
Start with a magic circle, or ch 3 with a sl to join, however you feel comfortable starting on the round
Round 1: 6 sc in the circle (6)

Finish off with a long tail to sew to the head

Eyeball:
In white
Start with a magic circle, or ch 3 with a sl to join, however you feel comfortable starting on the round
Round 1: 6 sc in the circle (6)
Round 2: 1 sc incr, repeat around (12)
Round 3: 1 sc, 1 sc incr, repeat around (18)
Round 4: 2 sc, 1 sc incr, repeat around (24)
Round 5 – 7: 1 sc, repeat around (24)
Round 8: 2 sc, 1 sc dec, repeat around (18)
Round 9: 1 sc, 1 sc dec, repeat around (12)
Stuff here
Change to red
Round 10: 1 sc dec, repeat around (6)
Round 11: 1 sc dec, repeat around (3)
To close the circle, insert hook through two stitches and make a sc or sl
Ch 6
Finish off with a long tail to sew to the base

Zombie Tail:
In mc
Start with a long tail to sew to the body
Ch 6
Row 1: 1 hdc in the 3rd ch from the hook and the next 3, turn (4)
Row 2:Â ch 1, 2 sc, change to red, 2 hdc (4)
Row 3: ch 1, 1 dc, 1 picot, 2 sc, ch 3 (4)
Finish off and weave in ends

Brain Bite:
Ch 12
Row 1: 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and the next 10, turn (11)
Row 2: ch 1, 2 sc, (1 bobble, 1 sc) x4, 1 sc, turn (11)
Row 3: ch 1, 11 sc, turn (11)
Row 4: ch 1, 2 sc, (1 bobble, 1 sc) x4, 1 sc, turn (11)
Row 5: ch 1, 1 sc, (1 sc dec, 2 sc) x2, 1 sc dec, turn (8)
Row 6: ch 1, 1 sc dec, (1 bobble, 2 sc) x2, turn (7)
Row 7: ch 1, (1 sc, 1 sc dec) x2, 1 sc (5)
Change to red
Round 8: sc around the entire piece to finish, your st count doesn't matter and won't change the look of the piece, so use your best judgement on where to place these stitches, for reference sake mine worked out as per side: 9, 5, 7, 9 (30)
Finish off with a long tail to sew to the head

Assembly:
Zombie Front Leg: attach at round 26/7
Zombie Ear: attach so it is even with the regular ear at round 46/47
Zombie Hanging Eye Assembly: attach the eyeball to the centre of the base
Zombie Hanging Eye: attach so it is even with the other eye at round 40/41
Brain Bite: position the bite where you like on the head, and attach
Zombie Tail: attach at approx round 8
