Materials: 

#4 medium weight yarn, approx 20 yards

Polyfibre fill

E 3.5mm hook

Needle for sewing in ends and attaching pieces

                   

Stitch Guide: 

sl: slip stitch

ch: chain

sk: skip

st: stitch

bb: back bump

yo: yarn over

mc: main colour

ac: accent colour

blo: back loop only

flo: front loop only

sc: single crochet

sc incr: single crochet increase

sc dec: single crochet decrease


Special Instructions: I suggest using the invisible dec wherever a dec is called for


Gauge is not important with this item, changing the hook or yarn size will simply change the size of the finished piece, just make sure you use the appropriate size hook for your yarn

Horn:


Start with a magic circle, or ch 3 with a sl to join, however you feel comfortable starting on the round


Stuff as you go


Round 1: 6 sc in the circle (6)


Round 2: 1 sc, 1 sc incr, repeat around (9)


Round 3: 1 sc, repeat around (9)


Round 4: 2 sc, 1 sc incr, repeat around (12)


Round 5 – 9: 1 sc, repeat around, finish last round with a sl (12)


Finish off with a long tail to sew to the hat



Ears: (make two)


Start with a magic circle, or ch 3 with a sl to join, however you feel comfortable starting on the round


Round 1: 6 sc in the circle (6)


Round 2: 2 sc, 1 sc incr, repeat around (8)


Round 3: 3 sc, 1 sc incr, repeat around (10)


Round 4: 4 sc, 1 sc incr, repeat around (12)


Round 5: 5 sc, 1 sc incr, repeat around (14)


Round 6: 6 sc, 1 sc incr, repeat around (16)


Round 7: 7 sc, 1 sc incr, repeat around (18)


Round 8: 1 sc, repeat around (18)


Round 9: 8 sc, 1 sc incr, repeat around (20)


Round 10: 1 sc, repeat around (20)


Round 11: fold so both sides are touching and sc x10 through both to close (10)



Round 12: fold again so both sides are touching and sc x5 through both to close (5)



Finish off with a long tail to attach to the hat



Hair: (make as many as desired)


Ch 22


Row 1: 1 dc incr in the 3rd ch from the hook and the next 18 (38)


Finish off with a long tail to attach to the hat



Assembly:


Horn: position so it is centred on the hat and attach


Ears: position evenly on either side and just behind the horn and attach


Hair: position between the ears and behind the horn and attach
